<p class="MsoNormal">I’m aware that there’s an ongoing discussion amongst the DACs about capturing provenance of datasets, and how they can be linked to Discovery metadata records.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">While the MEDIN Standard is restricted in how it handles provenance, in that it is only covered in minor detail as part of Lineage, there is potentially a way of linking the discovery metadata record to provenance metadata held elsewhere
e.g. the PROV model.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Additional Information field in the MEDIN standard can be used to link to external resources that provide further context or information about the dataset – if the DACs were to develop a PROV repository for datasets that was accessible
via FAIR principles, the Additional Information field would be a logical place to put the link.<o:p></o:p></p>
