Dear Platform Group,

Corrections have come in for the vessel SVANEN from NORWAY. The Bahamas call sign has been deleted. Don, please note this correction for NOAA.

Code : 58SV
Name : SVANEN
Flag : NORWAY - NO (ISO Country Code)
Notes : hired by IMR 1944

Important Comments (Conflict to be resolved!):

58SV ”Svanen” was a vessel (comercial fishing ?) hired for a cruise in 1944. 15 hydrographic stations exist from this cruise. I have no further info on the destiny and identification of this vessel. However, LKXK Svanen, still Norwegian according to NIS-NOR, is a former Swedish cargo, and now a veteran ship drifted by the Norwegian Maritime Museum http://www.svanen.no/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23&Itemid=41 This vessel is obviously not our ”Svanen”. Conclusion : drop the call sign and add a note stating ”hired by IMR 1944”.
(added by: Oyvin Strand - 28/04/2010 00:00:00)

Deleted call sign C6LA2. Incorrect Bahama call sign entered in list before 2006.
(added by: Marilynn Sorensen - 28/04/2010 00:00:00)

Callsign for Svanen under Norwegian flag is LKXK according to Lloyds and Skibsregistrene
(added by: Kirstine Larsen Underbjerg - 11/09/2009 00:00:00)

Kind regards,
The ICES Data Centre

International Council for the Exploration of the Sea
Email: accessions@ices.dk
Web: http://www.ices.dk

Tel: +45 3338 6718 Fax: +45 3393 4215
H.C.
