Dear Platform Group,

Deprecated code notice: information has come in that the vessel LOUIS S. ST. LAURENT from UNITED STATES was actually the Canadian vessel 18SN. Do not use code 32SL.
General Comments:

I agree with Mathieu's comments. I can find no evidence of a US platform by this name, but NODC/WDC-A archival index card based information identifies a platform from Canada by this name from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Hi all,

I have reassigned WOD cruise US008365 (Accession 7400494) to 1007 18SN LOUIS S. ST. LAURENT.

http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/OC5/SELECT/allcruises/US008365.html WOD 3296.

I think the University of Washington collaborated with Canada on a study in 1973 and collected data aboard the Louis S St-Laurent. But I believe 32SL should be deprecated and WOD US008365 should be attributed to 18SN instead, which has WOD code 1007.

It is extremely unlikely that the US would have/have had an ice breaker named after a Canadian prime minister, especially when Canada has one.

Is this the same vessel as 18SN LOUIS S. ST. LAURENT?
