Hi everyone,
Charlotte this morning received the following email from a Dutch firm conducting a study into the sharing of geospatial data between governments and the public. Have any of you received the email (see below) and what are your thoughts, if so, about whether the response should be at a MEDIN core team level or a DAC level, given the DACs are the producers and users?
Regards
Sean

Dear data provider,
You receive this invitation because you are listed as a contact person for dataset(s) in the INSPIRE Geoportal*). The European Commission has asked us (Epsilon, Wageningen Environmental Research and COWI) to conduct a study to see how the sharing of geospatial data between governments and the public can be improved across the EU called: "Evaluation and evaluation of INSPIRE Directive 2007/2 / EC, exchange of information between public authorities and provisions concerning access and access to use".
The infrastructure for spatial information in the EU, as expressed by the INSPIRE directive, plays an important role in facilitating data sharing. However, experience shows that there is room for improvement and that more can be done.
In the framework of this study, we have prepared a survey for this purpose. The study is very relevant for improving INSPIRE and related policies and initiatives that benefit from an efficiently functioning spatial data infrastructure. That is why we ask you, as producer and/or user of geospatial data and information, to share your experiences and thoughts about the use of this 'Infrastructure' with us by responding to the questionnaire that you can find online via this link:
https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/SR5_CAU_LPA_survey
Depending on your role as producer, user or both, it takes about 15-30 minutes to complete the survey. Please note that this is not an official survey of the European Commission. The survey will be open until 15 October 2018.
Thank you for cooperating.
Kind regards,
Jandirk Bulens (jandirk.bulens at wur.nl<mailto:jandirk.bulens at wur.nl<mailto:jandirk.bulens at wur.nl%3cmailto:jandirk.bulens at wur.nl>>)

*) Only one contact per organization is addressed. If your organization has more than one contact or unit publishing data for INSPIRE, please forward the invitation to your colleague(s)."
