Hi Clare,
1) No
2) No
3) No
Hope this doesn't sound too negative! I've had a talk with the relevant
SME and it's not something we are pursuing at the moment. As I'm sure
you're aware, our remit as a Trading Fund strictly limits what we are
able to invest in, and this isn't seen as a core activity. Consequently
it would be virtually impossible to build a case for allocating any
resources to make it happen.

Subject: [Medin_dacwg] DOIs
Dear MEDIN DAC Working Group,
Following on from the last DAC meeting and recent discussions about
DOIs, I would like to clarify the current situation for all MEDIN DACs
with regard to minting DOIs. It was previously thought that is may be
possible for NERC to mint DOIs on behalf of other MEDIN DACs but this is
no longer thought possible. An alternative suggestion is to explore
whether MEDIN could get its own DOI account so that any DACs that do not
currently have the ability to create DOIs themsleves could benefit from
a MEDIN umbrella account (although I do not know yet whether MEDIN would
have the required legal status for this).
So please could you clarify:
1) Can you already mint DOIs?
2) If not, would you like to be able to do so?
3) Would you prefer to mint DOIs under a MEDIN account or one for your
own organisation?
Best wishes,
Clare
