Dear Colleagues,

I am aware that several MEDIN partners and Data Archive Centres are planning on entering bids to an EU tender: Ingestion and safe-keeping of marine data (EASME/EMFF/2015/011). The aim of the project is to make it easier to get data into existing data centres.

There is a clear overlap with the work that MEDIN does and, within a UK context, the MEDIN DACs may need to be involved in any successful project. I have therefore prepared some text for anyone submitting a bid to consider including in their proposal (attached). The provided text acknowledges existing national and international initiatives such as MEDIN, asks that future developments be compatible with existing systems and acknowledges that DACs may need to charge to ingest new data.

NB MEDIN is not a legal entity and is therefore not eligible to submit or be a subcontractor on a bid.

Please forward this proposed text to anyone involved in such a bid and do get in touch if you would like to discuss this further.

Best wishes,
Clare
