We would like to draw your attention to a consultation that is currently ongoing in the INSPIRE committee concerning the possible revision of some of the implementing rules of INSPIRE (http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/ ). The aim is to make these implementing rules "fit for purpose" and strengthen ‘consistency with e-reporting' where this is not the case. This includes the possibility for changes for themes under Annex III of the INSPIRE directive which are of relevance for the marine environment. We attach two documents relating to this consultation. The pdf document (Revision of IR's.pdf) was presented to the INSPIRE Committee in December 2106 and builds a rationale for a possible revisions of the interoperability and reporting regulations within the INSPIRE framework. The Commission is seeking the views of the INSPIRE Committee members on this document and additional input from  INSPIRE and other communities within the larger scope of the environmental acquis to build the evidence base for specific issues (focus on the Interoperability Implementing Regulation in relation to Annex III datasets) and change proposals to the legal framework of INSPIRE. The second document (template) provides a structured way to document identified issues and change proposals. On the basis of the feedback from Member States, the Commission services will take a final decision on whether to revise the Interoperability Regulation.
