Dear MEDIN Data Archive Centres,

Great News! There have been 161 responses to the survey we are running with OECD and GOOS of marine data users. You can see the breakdown in the email below.

Even better news .... there is still 1 more week left to encourage your users to feed into the survey ... that means one more week to get the most out of this activity to understand who is using your data and why.

Here's a reminder of the link to the survey

Thanks for all your efforts on this,
Clare

Hi Clare

Apologies for the delay in providing an update.

As of ten minutes ago we have received 161 completed responses to the survey. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the respondents employers’ are based in the United Kingdom (133). And MEDIN is the most ‘productive’ supplier of respondents.

A few points worth noting with regards to targeting groups of potential respondents in the coming eight days:

· The main reasons for visiting the repositories are to download raw data, to search for data that may or may not already exist and to download data products. Linking to data via APIs etc. appears less common.

· Academia/research is the most frequent sector, followed by government/policy. We have fewer responses from the commercial/industry and consultancy sectors, which would be great to have.

· Of the respondents from industry and consultancy, the most regular activity appears to be offshore wind and marine renewable energy. We have no responses from industry and consultancy focussed on maritime passenger transport; maritime ports and support activities for maritime transport; maritime ship, boat and floating structure building; naval and search and rescue; and, processing and preserving of marine fish.
