[Medin_dacwg] Crowd Sourced Bathymetry: Call for to address the UK's position

Good afternoon MEDIN DAC working group,

To: MSCC Members, Underwater Sound Forum, MEDIN, UK-IMON

The UKHO, in response to the International Hydrographic Organisation’s (IHO) Circular Letter 21/2020<https://iho.int/uploads/user/circular_letters/eng_2020/CL21_2020_EN_v1.pdf>, is in the process of developing the UK’s position on the growing emergence of Crowd Sourced Bathymetry (CSB) and how it will be managed in waters of UK jurisdiction.  Whilst the UKHO are the leads for the Seabed Mapping and Hydrography, they are conscious that the risks and opportunities associated with CSB intersects closely with the interests of many of the MSCC members and some subgroups, therefore they are keen to ensure the response they provide to the IHO represents the MSCC views too.

Please find attached a letter from Rear Admiral Hatcher, UK National Hydrographer, that invites MSCC members to register interest in participating in this work. If this sounds like something you are able to contribute to, please register your interest by midday on 13th July using the details within the letter.
