All,
At the last MEDIN Standards meeting we agreed to allow multiple bounding boxes in Element 12 which would bring us into line with the change in GEMINI2. Since then there has been a couple of other minor changes we would like to agree intersessionally which would be best to carry out at the same time. These are:
1) Change the multiplicity of temporal extents (Element 16.1) from singular to multiple following the same change in GEMINI2
2) Change the Date of Publication from Mandatory to conditional and state that 1 of Date of Publication, Date of last revision and Date of creation must be given which is as specified in the GEMINI2 standard.
These changes are a relaxing of existing rules so will not be a problem for existing metadata records however it may be months before the portal can be upgraded to allow multiple bounding boxes and temporal extents.
Please let me know if you have any objections by 14th September else I will amend the standard and the changes will then filter down to the tools.
Best Wishes
Mark
