Dear MEDIN Standards Mailing List members,
The governance group for one of the vocabularies used by MEDIN (L05 - instrument types) has decided to deprecate two terms and move them to a child directory of instrument designs (L22).
Does anyone on this mailing list have any issues with this proposal, as I can provide feedback to the governance group on behalf of MEDIN?
Full details of the proposed change are visible in the email below this one.
Many thanks,
Sean Gaffney

Subject: [Seavox] Deprecation of L05 terms
Dear colleagues,
Upon receiving requests for 'dredge' instruments in L22, we have realised that two terms currently published in L05 are instrument designs and may be more appropriate in L22. This would complement previous descriptions of dredge instruments in L22. We have spoken to the requestee who agrees. Therefore, we propose to deprecate the following terms from L05 and create equivalent terms in L22:
http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L05/current/71/ - scallop dredges
http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L05/current/72/ - queen scallop dredges
For more information please see GitHUB issue https://github.com/nvs-vocabs/L05/issues/4
In addition, I would like to expand L05 term '24' for 'benthos samplers' to include 'dredges' to help our users:
http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L05/current/24/
'A mechanical device that collects organisms from the seafloor. Includes sledges, dredges, weighted nets like beam trawls and ROV manipulators.'
For more information please see GitHUB issue https://github.com/nvs-vocabs/L05/issues/5
Please can I have responses by the 9th December 2019.
Many thanks
Lou
