Hi all,

OK, it is settled then!

For 29HE HESPERIDES: I have corrected the Call sign to EBBW and added platform research vessel, built 1991, DWT 830, IMO8803563, title BIO

Cheers,
Marilynn

Hi Marilynn,

BIO stands for Buque de Investigación Oceanográfica which is the Spanish equivalent of the English RV or the German FS.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi everyone,

ICES has ROSCOPs originating from a WOCE project for 1992 and 1996 for "HESPERIDES". The DWT was 830 so that eliminates the vessel with call sign EDQP.

I have a remaining question: Where does the "BIO" come from? I find no documentation on that.

Cheers,
Marilynn

Hi again Mitch,

Having checked up, the BODC data you got was incorrectly labelled with a ship code for a tanker..... I think the best way out of this mess would be to designate 29HE as Hesperides [multiple hulls], use 29AN for the research vessel (I assume Marilynn gave you that code in an e-mail that missed the list) and if ICES need it set up another code for the tanker.

Marilynn are you happy with that?

Cheers, Roy.

Roy:

The only data we have attributed to the 29HE was submitted to Syd L' .
group and was BODC data for 1993 (titled BIOHesperides).
Yes we will delete 29AN entry.

Thanks,

=Mitch=

There WAS a Hesperides, (subsequently renamed Carmela B) operating from May 1982 until January 1997 with the callsign EDQP, but she was a tanker not a research vessel. So, we should in fact use 29HE for this ship and the new code (29AN?) for the research vessel.
