Hi Marilynn,

I think you are right and that these are one and the same ship.  Just a question of confirming the callsign. 'EAXB' seems to originate from the Oceanic site and 'EAX3' from IEO web site.  Let us know when you get confirmation.

Hi Mitch and platform group,

The Vizconde de Eza may already exist on the ICES list as code 29VE. The ICES Vizconde de Eza has a different call sign (EAX3) but the dates fit and ROSCOPS exist here. I have contacted Carlos Masso at IEO to help with this. He has been very helpful and sent in a number of documentation files on Spanish vessels to fill gaps.

Vizconde de Eza : IEO research vessel built in 2000.  Active as at Jun 07, callsign EAXB, length 53m, IMO9206308

So, please wait to add this vessel to your databases until I have resolved the call sign.
