Hi everyone,

Roy has requested a code for the German fisheries research vessel FS Poseidon 1902-1945.

I suggest 06P1 for Poseidon 1902-1945.

Is that OK with everyone?

I need to have clear ship code entries to associate with the vessels FS Meteor and FS Poseidon

My current understanding is that we have

06MT FS Meteor (DBBH) commissioned 1986 and still active
????   FS Meteor (????) active between 1964 and 1985
06ME FS Meteor (????) active between 1946 and 1964

???? FS Poseidon (????) active in fisheries research 1902-1945 06PO FS Poseidon (DBKV) commissioned 1976 and still active

Does anybody disagree with any of the above or know of any other Poseidons/Meteors?  If not, with Friedrich's permission, could we assign new codes for the 64-85 Meteor and the 02-45 Poseidon?  I would also appreciate Friedrich's guidance on whether we should use the German title 'FS' or its English translation 'RV' for the title.  Missing callsigns (or any other information) would be appreciated.

In the BSH database there is also a Poseidon 1 (code 82).  According to Lloyds, this is a currently active Tongan vessel.  Is this the same ship?
