Hi Roy,

Is it correct that you are saying that the proposed 64T1 really refers to two ships? Could you/someone supply the attributes?

Cheers,
Marilynn

Hi everyone,

I have checked with Lloyds and have found the following for Netherlands TRIDENS and TRIDENS I:

1) Existing NODC/ICES code: 64TD, name TRIDENS, Built 1990, Call sign PBVO, Notes: IMO8821852, length 73, owner NE govt.

2) New ICES code: 64T1, name TRIDENS 1, Built 1967 (note not 1993 as in spreadsheet), Call sign PIAO, Previous name TRIDENS (changed in 1990), Notes: IMO6812833, length 61, owner Chase Seismic Survey BV

Dear All,

As I try to rationalise the ship codes for POGO I keep running into the confusion caused by ships being renamed.

Problem 1: Beautemps-Beaupré

We have code 35BB which seems to be connected to the current French naval survey ship (pennant A758, commissioned 2003). Worryingly I have a note about a 35BB launched in 1939, so it looks like we have another case of a code transferring from one ship to another.

I propose that we keep the code 35BB for A758 and have a new code labelled up for the old 'Beautemps Beaupré', which I don't think had the hyphen.

Note the the the name in RECO for 35BB has no hyphen, which I think is incorrect.

Problem 2: Tridens

I think we are now clear that the history is that there was a fishery research vessel called Tridens, which was sold to a commercial outfit and renamed Tridens I. A new fishery research vessel came on the scene and inherited the name Tridens. Again, the code (64TD) was passed from one ship to another. I think that we need 3 codes here, but we only have one. My suggestion would be:

Keep 64TD for the current fishery research vessel Tridens Set up a new code for commercial survey vessel Tridens I Set up a new code for the original Tridens when she was operating as a fishery research vessel

Is everyone, particularly Michele and Taco, happy with this?

Cheers, Roy.
