[Platforms] Coding

Hi Platform group,

In general, I try to keep in mind that we need to:

1) keep the use of extra codes down to a minimum
2) allow databases to keep their own codes intact
3) allow tracking to detail data via multiple hull codes in the ICES code tables
4) keep tracking as simple as possible
5) remember that there is no information implied in any code and the 2 digit codes have limited numbers available.

So, sometimes the coding may not be as straightforward as first expected.

Thanks Friedrich for the added information.

Best regards,
Marilynn

Hi Friedrich,

The reason for 06NI was that our American friends had already used it for WH3 and so by following them we save them having to make changes to their system with little cost to anybody else.

Cheers, Roy.

Dear Marilynn and all,
your suggestions are fine for Walther Herwig 1, 2 and 3, although I was surprised that after 06W1 and 06W2 not, as expected, 06W3 followed, but 06NI, wouldnt it fit better as 06W3?
And for the Walther Herwig 3 we could add

Best regards
Friedrich
