Hi all,

There is a German vessel ICEBIRD with ICES/NODC code 06CE with call sign DPIB. Could Anne confirm that this vessel was decommissioned in June 1994 and eventually became the Polar Bird (IMO nr 8403533)?

According to Lloyds, it was registered under Bahamas between the German Icebird and the Norwegian Polar Bird.

Norway On 07 December 1994 02 April 2003 LAVT4 258969000 Bergen
Bahamas After 02 June 1994 On 07 December 1994
Germany On 07 October 1984 On 01 June 1994

Also according to Lloyds it is now the Almog and is Honduran but sails to Israel.

Best regards,
Marilynn

To avoid possible future identification problems :

This ship (IMO no. 8403533) was built in Germany in 1984 as ICEBIRD for German owners, and German register. Until 1994 it was frequently chartered to Austalia (see : http://www.aad.gov.au/default.asp?casid=2155 and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icebird_(ship) ).

In late 1994, the ship was sold to Norwegian owner and renamed 'POLAR BIRD'
with (new) call sign LAVT4, see search facilities at http://www.nis-nor.no I have no info on the German call sign prior to 1994.

The ship was deleted from Norwegian register by 2003.03.25 (sold to foreign owner (Israel)).

Best regards
Øyvin Strand
