Dear All,
Attached my metadata record for the original La Pérouse (35LA)
<class>naval vessel</class><pennant>A753</pennant><commissioned>1946</commissioned><decommisioned>1977</decommissioned><previous_name>Merkur</previous_name><notes>Hydrographic survey vessel. Built 1938. Siezed by Germany in 1940 and named Merkur. Recovered in 1945 and renamed La Pérouse in 1946 with pennant F750. Pennant changed to A753 in 1965. Withdrawn in 1977 and broken up in 1984. Metadata from http://www.netmarine.net/g/bat/laperous/index.htm.</notes>
This differs in couple of details from the information that has been circulating.
(1) I believe her wartime name to be' Merkur', not 'SG4 Merkur' as the SG4 isn't in italics like the other names on the site. SG4 may be a pennant, but there's no way to know.
(2) The pennant changed from F750 to A753 in 1965, not vice versa.
Cheers, Roy.
