[Platforms] France ASTROLABE and ALIDADE

Dear Michelle,

Yes, NOAA has OK'd more vessels which we are adding to RECO as we check. I will forward it after editing out the problems....

We have conflicting information on the various ASTROLABE's and are looking into them. Do you have information on an Astrolabe from 1811?

I haven't started looking at the various ALIDADE's but will do so next week.

Best regards,
Marilynn

Dear Marilynn,

it's OK for us, we will modify our database to be coherent with that.

What about ASTROLABE and ALIDADE? Hve you got news from NOAA since your emails of September 18th?

Best regards

Michèle

	Dear Platform group,

We have discovered a clash in codes for the French vessel(s) Laperouse/La Perouse. This clash originated when corrections were sent in to ICES in March 2007 which are incorrect.

We have worked out 2 possible solutions. Please respond to the platform mail by 30 Oct. if you do not agree with solution 1) below.

	1) Correct codes in databases:

Correct 35LA back to pre-2007 information (removing call sign and changing back to "La Perouse"). Those of you who have used 35LA for the new Laperouse will have to change your databases. This would not work if much data has been exchanged with other institutes.

Suggested code info: *35LA* (code exists at NODC and ICES. Will require corrections for all databases)

<name>LA PEROUSE</name> <pennant>F750</pennant> <commissioned>1946</commissioned> <decommissioned>1977</decommissioned> <previousname> SG4 Merkur</previousname> <notes>Built in 1938. Previous name is SG4 Merkur, previous pennant is A753. Named La Perouse in 1946. Destroyed in 1984. Code created in mid-1960's by NODC. Data associated with 35LA at NODC were collected between January 1957 and July 1961. WOD code 4178</notes>

Suggested code info:*35B7* (code exists at NODC, new for ICES)
	<name>LAPEROUSE</name><platformclass>naval vessel</platformclass><pennant>F791</pennant> <callsign>FYCR</callsign><commissioned> 1988</commissioned><notes>Launched 1986, Length 59 meter, WOD code 8836</notes>

	Link : http://www.netmarine.net/g/bat/laperous/index.htm <http://www.netmarine.net/g/bat/laperous/index.htm>

	2) Assigning multiple hull codes. If you do not agree to change your code info, ICES will change 35LA to a multiple hull code and create a new code for the old vessel La Perouse.

This suggestion will need confirmation by NOAA.

	Cheers,
	Marilynn
