Dear Roy and Lesley,
I've found more information on "Ke Xue Yi Hao". Please check with the
following link:
http://www.digital-seas.com/vessel_search/vessel_details/on/bccu_kexueyihao_q2019019.html?tx_fleetmonportal_pi1%5Bposition%5D=1
I believe this ship is the same as 76KE KEXUE # 1 given in the ICES ship
list because the replacement for Ke Xue Yi Hao is still being built and
won't be ready ready till 2012 (see
http://wwz.ifremer.fr/inmartech08/content/download/50515/373773/file/Inmartech2008ProceedingsV1WEB.pdf)
Best regards,
Anne

Dear Roy and Lesley,
Happy New Year!
I am still on Christmas & New Year leave and am at home, but I thought I
could just help to clarify this issue.
"Ke Xue" or better "/kēxué" (in Chinese ///科学/) means Science and "/Yi
Hao" means number 1. Therefore Lesley's information is correct. Since we
have been using the original Chinese platform names up till now may be
we should keep to "Ke Xue Yi Hao" or "Kexue-I" for this research vessel.
By the way in the ICES RECO SHIPC list there are already 2 other Chinese
vessels with similar names :
76KE KEXUE # 1 - I suppose this is the former ship with the same Chinese
name
76KX KE XUE SAN HAO is equivalent to "Kexue-III"
Best regards,
Anne
