[Platforms] SEDCO/BP 471 - JOIDES Resolution - Resolution

Hi all,
There are data stating "RESOLUTION" from before the JOIDES Resolution was built as the SEDCO/BP 471 (See US RESOLUTION email). If the JOIDES Resolution is 32RS then there is another "Resolution" that needs a code. See the US RESOLUTION email sent today.
The JOIDES Resolution is still active but she was rebuilt (again) not too long ago and changed vessel type. This may mean a new code is needed but more information is needed.
There are 2 sources which state that the name changed to JOIDES Resolution in 1996. I will make further enquiries.
If anyone has documentation it would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Marilynn

Hi Marilynn,
This isn't making total sense to me.
When did SEDCO/BP 471 get renamed to JOIDES resolution? My understanding from the IODP site is that it was when she got converted to science in 1985. If so, SEDCO/BP 471 sould have a decommissioned date of January 1985.
Now we come to JOIDES Resolution. Is this the US-flagged Resolution (32RS)? Or do we need a new code? If somebody has ROSCOPS for 32RS, it should be easy to determine as JOIDES Resolution cruises have a fairly unique activity pattern (depp-sea drilling). Whatever the decision she should have a commissioned date of January 1985 and as fas as I can see she's still active (http://joidesresolution.org/blog), wherease the notes indicate activity ceased in 2003.
JOIDES Resolution is a very important ship to science so we need to get this sorted.
Cheers, Roy.
