Dear Platform Group,

Today we have released a new version of the Platform Requests database and interface.
You will still be able to recognize the good old Platforms request page<http://vocab.ices.dk/Request/Login.aspx>, but there are some new features added to it, and some are removed.

The main changes that you will see in the application are:

* Additional attributes have been added: Native name, Synonyms, MMSI, WOD code

? To help with identifying vessels and aid in linking data with the correct ship

* Deprecation flag is now available

? Will be used for the "unknown codes" such as "3599"

? Will be used for the "Discontinued" codes where NOAA and ICES had conflicts

* Lloyds URL field has been discontinued and Lloyds information has been moved to Info Source field

? Not many subscribe to Lloyds so information is not available

* Comment field is no longer available from the Attribute submission form but can be reached (as before) by the Comment tab.

? This is to give more room to the form now that more fields are available

* 6 digit codes are now possible

? We will soon run out of 4 digit codes when country is the first 2 digits

? Especially necessary now that non-ship platform classes are increasingly being added

* Multiple countries are now possible

? There is talk of adding satellites to Platform Requests...

For additional information, please refer to the User Guide<http://vocab.ices.dk/request/help/RequestsUserGuide.pdf> in the application.

If you face any troubles with using the application and the new features, please contact us via: accessions at ices.dk<mailto:accessions at ices.dk>
