Hi Anna,
Please ensure you include commissioned/decommissioned dates in the entry for RUAL and an explanation in the notes to make things crystal clear.
I did try and start a discussion a couple of months back as to whether the decision tree should be modified to abandon the practice of assigning new codes for a change of callsign, but received no response. My argument is that this was done to maintain a 1:1 relationship with the JCOMMOPS list (that used callsign as its primary key) but that this is no longer necessary. Any comments on this, in particular from JCOMMOPS? Or is there another reason for the practice?
I became concerned because callsigns for portable VHF transceivers that can be switched between vessels on a cruise by cruise basis are now being used. For example code 26KH.
Cheers, Roy.

Dear Roy and the Platform Group,
Happy New Year 2019!
My apologies for not getting back to you on this sooner.
I would like to raise an objection to deprecation the code RUAL (which existed since at least 1996) for the benefit of the RUJB as they have been created with different calls signs, and by the presently valid decision tree, they should remain as two different platform codes.
For additional information, call sign UTTU was used after change of flag, and changed to UALU only in 1997: http://fleetphoto.ru/ship/6905/

I will revise the information for RUAL accordingly.
Best wishes,
Anna

Dear All,
Thanks to these changes we now have a clear history for two USSR/Russian vessels named Atlantida.
However, there is still the loose end of code RUAL, callsign UTTU (the USSR callsign for IMO 8607000) for which I have a set of pending attributes that would have set up an entry corresponding to the code RUJB. Unless anbody can raise an objection to this I would propose that RUAL be deprecated with a note stating that it is an unintended duplicate of code RUJB.
Cheers, Roy.
