Hi Rob,

We'll have to look into this a bit and we're short staffed this week - is there a timeline for response on this?

Best, Neil

Subject: [Seavox] FW: Request for SeaVoX Platform Categories - drillship

Hello,

Apologies for any cross posting between the SeaVox and Platforms mailing lists but we feel both need to be consulted before implementing the following request.

We have received a request from the Geolink project <http://www.geolink.org/> for the addition of "drillship" to the L06 collection (SeaVox Platform vocabulary). Therefore we would like to be able to add the following term:

PrefLabel: drillship
Definition: A drillship is a merchant vessel designed for use in exploratory offshore drilling of new oil and gas wells or for scientific drilling purposes.

The change may impact on ICES as a significant number of drill ships are likely already mapped to L06 categories. Therefore new code would need to be accommodated and the mapping revisited.

Hence the posting to both mailing lists so the consequences of this proposed change can be clearly understood.

One of the objectives of L06 was to classify surface vessels by the type of science they do, and drill ships do a particular type of science. That would be one argument for making the addition.

Does anyone have any objections to making this addition?

Cheers
Rob
