Andy & Mark,
Apologies for pushing this in your direction, but as far as I'm
concerned, UKHO needs to sign this document off as fit for purpose as
you are the Bathy DAC. This has to work for you and map across to your
systems and workflows.
I won't have the chance to review this and provide feedback before
tomorrow's meeting, but I shall in due course. Bob Kinnear will be
phoning into tomorrow's meeting.
Best wishes,
André

Hi All,
Please find attached a draft revision to the MEDIN data guideline for
multibeam echo sounder data and proposed structure of the data guideline
templates (this essentially treats them more like a form).
There is still work to do on the guideline but we will be discussing it
at the meeting tomorrow and I would like the MEDIN standards WG comments
on the proposed structure.
Best wishes,
Clare
Summary of proposed changes to Data Guideline:
There has been no change to the fields that are specified in the Data
Guideline (apart from a couple of errors that were spotted in multibeam
echo sounder specific fields). All changes are to the structure of the
guideline and the presentation of the requirements.
The requirements for the data guideline have been split into 3 distinct
sections: General Metadata, Detailed Metadata and Data. General Metadata
would include Survey, Project and Station information, Detailed Metadata
would include Method (and possibly Sample Event) information and Data
would include the data content and format requirements (and possibly
Sample Event information).
On the first 2 pages of the guideline there are statements about what
is required of a dataset to be MEDIN compliant.
I have explicitly stated that the Detailed Metadata may be included in
a survey/cruise report
A summary of the required fields follow, so in theory someone could use
the first 8 pages of the document as the guideline. There are hyperlinks
from the summary to the detailed description and examples, which are now
found in 3 Appendices.
Within the summary, fields are separated into those that MUST be
supplied and those that constitute useful additional information.
The Appendices contain the summary of fields that are required (the
same list as at the beginning of the guideline) as well as the full
details and examples.
