Dear MEDIN Standards Working Group,

Thank you for all your suggestions, comments and hard work in my first full year as coordinator on the MEDIN Standards Work Stream. Your commitment and involvement has made this year a positive one, both for myself and MEDIN, and I look forward to continuing in this vein in 2016.

I would like to pass on an announcement about the MEDIN portal, which, as you know is populated with datasets for discovery using the MEDIN Discovery Metadata Standard.

MEDIN intend to upgrade the portal and a consultation process for how best to do this is now live. There is a link on the MEDIN home page that allows you to get involved (www.oceannet.org<http://www.oceannet.org>). The portal is one of our main outputs and it is important for this development that we gather the views of our users and potential users. Please alert anyone that you think may be interested in influencing the future development of the MEDIN portal and encourage them to get involved.

Finally, I'd like to wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas.

Best wishes,

Sean
