The Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) invites the marine community, particularly those from the commercial sector, to an open meeting to share information about how MEDIN shares and safeguards data and to discuss how the barriers to sharing industry marine data can be overcome collaboratively.

Tuesday 9th February 2016

Background

MEDIN is a partnership of UK organisations committed to improving access to marine data. Our partners are both public and private sector. A recently published report "A Review of Access to Industry Marine Data"  (http://www.gov.scot/Topics/marine/science/MSCC/PSEG) concludes that UK marine industries are, on the whole, positive about sharing data. However, there are barriers that prevent this happening on a regular basis for some marine industries. In response to recommendations within the report, MEDIN will be holding this meeting as an open forum to share information, promote collaboration, and ultimately to make the most of the UK's investment in marine data.
