Hi Susanne,
What I have at the moment is:
74AQ
ACT 4
<class>ship of opportunity</class>
<commissioned>1971</commissioned>
<decommissioned>1992-01-12</decommissioned>
<notes>Container carrier, sold and renamed Melbourne Star 12 Jan 1992. Broken up in China in 2003.</notes>
BHAQ
Melbourne Star
<callsign>C6JY6</callsign>
<class>ship of opportunity</class>
<commissioned>1992-01-12</commissioned>
<decommissioned>2003</decommissioned>
<notes>Container carrier formerly known as Act 4 until sold and renamed 12 Jan 1992. Broken up in China in 2003.</notes>
The metadata needs a bit of tidying up, but the important thing is for us all to agree that 74AQ = 'Act 4' and BHAQ='Melbourne Star', or at least two different codes for the different names. Don't get hung up on whether the flag changed or not as we are moving towards losing semantics from the keys.
Cheers, Roy.

Hi Roy,
Yes you are right, but it is getting a bit complicated. The call sign
C6JY6 did not change, but she was named BOTH ACT 4 and MELBOURNE STAR
under BOTH UK and Bahamas flag.
Can we be sure that LLoyds reg. is correct? - and how would the entry
look?
Susanne

Hi Susanne,
A further check indicates that when ACT4 switched to MELBOURNE STAR she
switched flags from UK to Bahamas, gained the callsign C6JY6 and is
present in the ICES list with the code BHAQ. So, we should not assign a
new UK code as I said in my last message, we just need to put in notes
to clarify what has gone on.
Cheers, Roy.

Hi all,
This is just a reminder, as I have had no response so far to my below
email. Following this, I will get back to the emails from Roy from 9
November (Corystes, Scotia etc.)
At the moment I am working on some Polish HELCOM data, and noted that
the code 67S2 that we agreed to allocate to the STYNKA II (small Polish
motorboat) in May 2003, never made it to the NODC code list?
Best wishes,
Susanne

Subject: UK Ship code entries
Dear Mitch & all,
Today I have a few more entries and questions to the different versions
of the ship code lists.
When these are solved, I think only a 5-10 other UK entries have to be
solved, and then we will hopefully have identical UK entries.
Best regards,
Susanne
-------
I have today added the NODC prefix/comments to our list for the
74UR URANIA.
This entry is now as:
HMS URANIA, and in the comments field: F08, commissioned 1943, broken up
1971.
(Should also be added to Roy's version).
-------
I found the below 2 entries on the NODC list:
74TM TERMAGANT 74TM (platforms_id 6067)
74TP HMS TERMAGANT 74TP (platforms_id 9822)
At ICES we have just:
74TM TERMAGANT
The 74TP has been assigned by NODC (as 'OCL request') between 2000 and
2003. My question to Mitch is:
Can you can confirm that these 2 codes are for two different ships?
In case you can, I will add the entry here, (and Roy should add to his
version too).
-------
The NODC list has:
74GZ ACTIVE (platforms_id 10518)
745A ACTIVE (platforms_id 6210)
At ICES we have:
745A ACTIVE with the comment: F-171
The 74GZ code has been added to the NODC list sometime after 2003, and
the comment F-171 has disappeared from the 745A entry.
Please confirm if this is all correct or whatever.
-------
NODC has:
74AQ MELBOURNE STAR (platforms_id 7006)
ICES has:
74AQ ACT 4 C6JY6 PRIOR 12/91
I have looked up the MELBOURNE STAR in Lloyds reg. and found that this
ship is listed as 'dead' as of 26 June 2003, and also that the former
name was ACT 4 from 20 October 1975 to 10 January 1992.
I will then move the ACT 4 and related comments etc. to the comments
field
as a previous name etc., so the code 74AQ will be for the MELBOURNE
STAR.
(This should also be done on Roy's version).
-------
This is all for today! :>)
