Hi Marilynn,
A while back I tried to sort out the consequences of our unilateral action dealing with the Scotia multiple hull issue with Suzanne, but I see that we never actually got it sorted.
We have the following entries in our local system for Scotia:
746S
<title>SY</title><class>research vessel</class><commissioned>1902</commissioned><decommissioned>1905</decommissioned><previous_name>Hekla</previous_name><notes>Scottish National Antarctic Expedition vessel 1902-1904. Former Norwegian whaling ship 'Hekla' re-fitted and renamed SY Scotia. In 1905, after her success on the 1902-1904 Scottish National Antarctic Expedition under the leadership of William S Bruce, the exploration ship Scotia was sold for £5019 and ninepence to a Dundee consortium, which intended to return the vessel to its original purpose of whaling. Initially, after a single unsuccessful trip to Greenland, the Scotia was laid up. Then, after the sinking of Titanic in April 1912, she was fitted with wireless and brought back into active service as part of the North Atlantic ice patrol, once again under the command of Captain Thomas Robertson. Fate unknown.</notes>

<title>FRV</title><class>research vessel</class><commissioned>1948</commissioned>decommissioned>1971</decommissioned><notes>Research vessel was owned by the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, Fisheries Research Services.</notes>
74SC
<title>FRV</title><callsign>GOWS</callsign><class>research vessel</class><commissioned>1971</commissioned><decommissioned>1998</decommissioned><notes>Research vessel was owned by the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, Fisheries Research Services.</notes>
748S
<title>FRV</title><callsign>MXRH6</callsign><class>research vessel</class><commissioned>1998</commissioned><notes>Research vessel owned by the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, Fisheries Research Services. Managed by J Marr Shipping Ltd. Live as at Sept 2006.</notes>
In your system you have one entry:
74SC
<country>United Kingdom</country><callsign>MXHR6</callsign><notes>new hull, callsign on Apr 27, 1998</notes>
This is obviously a 'multiple hull' situation covering the callsigns GOWS and MXHR6. So, I suggest we proceed as follows:
(1) Change the metadata for 74SC in your system to 'multiple hulls'
(2) You adopt the codes we assigned for
746S - the early steam yacht (callsign unknown if she ever had one)
747S - the research vessel active from 1948 to 1971 (callsign unknown)
748S - current FRS ship (MXRH6)
which I think are unused.
(3) You assign a new code for the 1971-1998 ship (callsign GOWS)
Sound OK?
Cheers, Roy.
