Dear MEDIN DACs,
I'd like to thank all of you that have been busy promoting the OECD/GOOS/MEDIN survey that we have been running since the middle of May, looking at improving our understanding of the marine data value chain. I met with OECD and GOOS colleagues last Friday and they have confirmed that there has been 169 responses to the survey. Ideally we'd like the number of responses to be at least 10% of our users (which we are a fair way off). However, OECD have commented that for this survey, the quality of the responses is key, and at initial glance, the quality seems high. Nevertheless, I'd like to suggest that we leave the survey open and available from the DAC data download pages and MEDIN portal until the end of August. Please let me know if this will be a problem for you.
I will not be doing any more specific promotion of the survey but you should feel free to do so if you think you can increase the number of responses relevant to the results for your DAC.
I attach a couple of summary slides for your information. OECD produced these quickly last week to demonstrate the ratios of responses so far.
Thanks again for your participation in this project. A reminder that the report summarising the findings from the survey is due in October.
Best wishes,
Clare
