[Medin_standards] feedback on use of MEDIN GIS tool

Hi Sean,


-          Not quite sure what you mean by the ArcCatalog to MEDIN metadata tool, I am aware there used to be a stylesheet but I thought that had not been updated and was not compatible with ArcGIS 10.0 Service pack 5 (which is what SNH are still using), and there were no plans to update it. [Looking this morning I can't actually see even this stylesheet on the MEDIN website or find the relevant materials with the search]. I have in the past downloaded the MEDIN document "Transformation of ArcCatalog metadata to the MEDIN Standard. ArcCatalog Versions 10.0 (Service Pack 3 and above), 10.1 & 10. Version 2.0 22/05/2014)". [Looking this morning I can't see or find these on the MEDIN website], I still have a printed copy of this on my desk. From that and the MEDIN Guidance notes for the production of discovery metadata for MEDIN I produced the attached which I use as a practical document which I thrash trough when trying to produce MEDIN compatible metadata for ArcGIS feature classes.

-          Might have downloaded the stylesheet a long time ago but don't think we ever got it to work due to GIS version incompatibility.

-          Not downloaded in last 9 months (and can't find it on the MEDIN website).

-          Given the above, no I didn't find the tool useful, but on a more positive note the Document on Transformation and the guidance notes (referred to above) are very useful.
